CURRENT FOCUS
Having decided to 'retire' from routine environmental consultancy, Professor Cliff Johnston is continuing to undertake a range of specialist and strategic environmental studies, building on his pedigree as an independent consultant for both industry and government agencies.
Often working in collaboration with other organisations, a key focus of Digitata is:
- specialist policy and technical writing and publication,
supported by - - high level policy consultancy, particularly in the oil and gas sector but also in wider energy and resource development,
- environmental management/awareness training, particularly at senior management and general project team awareness levels.
- peer review of environmental and resource development projects, including both project (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA).
He is also keen to contribute to the facilitation of multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research studies, employing much of his experience gained in major UK and European projects.
As some of you will be aware, Cliff Johnston has been working on various bioresource projects for longer than his 30 years with oil and gas. A special interest in seaweed science and product development led to establishing (along with four other directors) a company – Orkney Seaweed Company Ltd. This company manufactures a specialist plant growth-promoting product for use in organic agriculture and horticulture. It has proved highly successful in the amenity/turf management market, particularly in golf (www.orkneyseaweed.co.uk)
